Is All Writing Environmental Writing?

What is environmental writing? Do you agree that all writing is environmental?

Dungy writes, "Our environments are always both human and other than human." She gives examples of both natural environments and built environments. How would you describe your own environment? Have you thought about the ecosystem of Queens or NYC as being an environment before? What kinds of non-human creatures live in your neighborhood? What kind of vegetation is there?

At the halfway point, Dungy brings in the topic of race. Was this surprising to you? How is race and environment related? How do African Americans, according to Dungy, view the environment differently that others might? How does this information change our understanding of her early childhood experiences w/ Jeff Blumenthal and his Dobermans?

Also at the halfway point, Dungy inserts a poem. What does her poem do to the essay? How would the essay be different if it didn't include the poem? What does it mean to "de-pristine" our environmental imagination? Why is it necessary?

  1. -Environmental writing is a nature writing which is creative of fiction and non fiction. The reason why I said is a nature writing is because environment refer to experience and enjoyment therefore nature writing describes our humanness.
-I do agree that all writing is environmental because in our writing we always referring to someplace wild there is humans interactions with non humans, the way we see things is reflected in what we write.
-The environment stand for rating and relax its a kind of place where you can feel equally at home, my own environment is work hard to meet the challenges of life.
-To be honest I don't really no anything about NYC, I don't know how it was before.
    - I don't have no idea
    - The only things I can say is there is rare tree.
    - Race and Environment related because we are one race living in this environment we all have the same heart, I believe the only labels y'all s should be called is human not black or write , Asian. We ain't black or write we are living beings living in the same planet benefits the same environment, we depend on each other, without this environment we wont be exist.

  2. -Environmental writing is basically different writing styles meant for different types of topics that you want to write about.I do agree that writing is environmental because any time we are writing we always talk about a place and when it happened.
-I would describe my environment as crazy and peaceful at times and why i say this is because of how the other people act around you. I've never really thought about the ecosystem of Queens or NYC as being an environment before. I have no idea of what kinds of non-human creatures live in your neighborhood.
-Race and environment is related because we are all race meaning humans but with different thoughts of viewing other humans.African Americans, according to Dungy, view the environment differently that others might because of how the others treat them but i believe that we are all humans so we should be treated the same.
-I think the reason why the author started off the essay with a poem because she wants to grab the readers attention by giving them the poem to start off so they will know the background of the essay.
